I had a rocking horse just like this one when I was a kid. His name was Rocky and I loved him. Then I grew too big for him and he became a benign but motionless presence in my bedroom. Eventually I sold him when I was about ten and greedy to supplement my pocket money. It was a decision that I regret to this day...

Oh, I'm sorry. I know how you feel. I gave away my childhood teddy bear, if you can believe it, to a boyfriend in my early twenties who turned to be bad news and I never got it back. I missed the teddy, and never the guy.

I've been known to buy things like ones I've lost as a way to make up to myself for mistakes like that.

What a beautiful horsey. You were so lucky to share your young life with one.
I sold my clarinet when I started art school it was a big mistake. It was such a beautiful thing in a gorgeous case. I didn't play well at all but it was a lovely thing to just hold.
