Birthing Dolls




Complete with stretch marks and fetuses in various stages of development, these 19th century dolls were used to educate midwives and entertain the masses at sideshow carnivals in Japan.

Wow, I had no idea. I guess people had to learn about childbirth somehow, though. You always have such interesting things over here...

I had a doll as a child that had a pregnant tummy with two babies in! It was rather cool!
