Every Little Girl Wants to be a Princess
Anna Anderson took this to an extreme. For her entire adult life she claimed to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia, the youngest daughter of the last tsar, who - according to the official version - had been shot along with her family in 1918. Then Anna Anderson came into the picture. She said she had escaped. Apart from a strong physical resemblance, she knew family secrets and people dedicated their lives to her cause. The truth was finally established after her death when her DNA was tested. She was not an emperor's daughter, just a lowly factory worker from Poland.
