Home Extension
In Cairo, you don't have to move house if you've too many kids and not enough space. You just extend your home upwards! Personally, I can't help wondering whether these wonky structures are actually a convenient place for stashing eccentric aunties and dodgy uncles.

Coffee To Go?
In New York, the Met's current, predynastic-Egypt show promises to reveal "the beginning of everything", which includes this chirpy cup that's roughly five-and-a-half thousand years old. Could it once have been a familiar sight at some extremely ancient version of Starbucks?
