Truly Angelic

Angels are beyond gender, being neither male nor female but traditionally a bit of both. Just like Andrej Pejic, a 19-year-old male model who is famous for his girly good looks.

Guardian Angel

Recent research has shown that around a third of all Brits believe in guardian angels. That must be a comforting thought, although the sightless angel in the illustration above looks as likely to accidently shove its tiny charges off the bridge as to save them from impending doom.

Pervy Angel

A monument to a little girl who died in the early 20th century. No doubt her parents were comforted by the thought that she was being borne heavenwards by an angelic being, but in these cynical times it looks more like she's drugged and has fallen into the clutches of a paedophile with wings.

Bookish Bags

Feel like you're being treated like a bimbo? Get a book! And preferably something weighty but pretty like an elegant edition of Proust that - hey presto! - can pulled from your bag like the proverbial rabbit out of a top hat.

Going one step further, designer Olympia Le-Tan combines style with substance in her bookish bags that provide plenty of space for all your non-literary essentials: keys, iPhone, credit cards and lippy.

Carved in Stone...

... and written in the elegant but extinct language of Palmyrene.

So what does it say?

Probably something along the lines of "our king's dick is bigger than your king's". Because some things in history never change.
